Union Cherry Blossom 5K Run Walk
This event is designed for individuals who don't
wish to attempt 10 miles, or for walkers and relaxed-pace runners who feel they
would take longer than 2 hours and 20 minutes to complete 10 miles. This year,
all 5K entrants receive the same amenities as the 10 milers, including the
official race t-shirt, their overall times and places in the event, and
post-race food and drink.
Unlike previous years where 5K Run Walk
participants could sign up on race day, this year the 5K is limited to
individuals who have pre-registered.
Registration for this event will open simultaneously with registration for the
Ten Mile Run. See
Entry Information for details.
The 5K Run Walk will begin at
8:45 on Sunday, Apr. 1, 2007.
Getting
to the Race
Race participants may drive to the
vicinity of the race site, but parking is extremely tight, so we
strongly recommend that you take an alternative form of
transportation. Shuttle buses will operate from the Crystal
Gateway Marriott (our host hotel). The Metro will open early for
the race (6 a.m.), and shuttle buses will run from the Metro
Center (Red Line) and L'Enfant Plaza (Orange, Blue, Yellow and
Green Lines) stations to the race site in West Potomac Park.

PRRO Championship Circuit
The Credit Union Cherry Blossom 10 Mile Run is a member of the
2007 Professional Road Running Organization circuit culminating in the PRRO Race of Champions at the
2007 Peachtree Road Race 10k in Atlanta, GA on July 4, 2007.
Seeding
Times Required
In order to ensure a safe start in the 10-mile, we will be lining up runners
into four corrals by ability. All entrants must provide a past 10-mile time (or
a projected time based on a 10K time). Individuals not submitting a time will be
placed in the slowest time group.
Time Limit
Due to the large number of tourists in town for
the cherry blossoms, we can only keep the course open
for a maximum of 2 hours and 20 minutes after the 8:00 A.M. start. If
you cannot complete the course in under this time limit, do not enter the Ten
Mile run; enter the 5K Run Walk instead.
T-Shirts and Amenities
Participant short-sleeved cotton or heavy-weight 50-50 T-shirts are given to all 10-mile and 5K entrants.
Shirts must be picked up Saturday, March 31 or Sunday, April 1. Shirts are not mailed to no shows.
“Upgrade” short-sleeved CoolCat Technical Performance Tee:
These popular T-shirts with the same design as the participant shirts may be ordered on this entry form for an additional
$16.
These shirts will not be offered for sale at the expo or on race day. Runners ordering the
“Upgrades” will pick them up at packet pick-up on Saturday or Sunday.
Note: Upgrade shirts replace the cotton participant shirts.
Post-race refreshments and random prizes at the awards ceremony starting at 10:15 A.M. in West
Potomac Park.
Volunteering
We will need over 500 volunteers to conduct the 2007 event. All volunteers will receive the official long-sleeved volunteer t-shirt and a transferable guaranteed entry (at prevailing entry fee) into the
2008 race.
Click here for more information or to
sign up to volunteer.
Warnings
Runner numbers may not
be transferred. For everyone’s safety do not participate with a
dog, baby stroller, or racing stroller. No skates or wearing of headphones are
permitted.
Weather
The normal temperature at race time is in the 40F to 50F range.

Union Miracle Day, Inc.
Credit Union Miracle Day, Inc.,
a partnership of credit unions and affiliated organizations, is the title
sponsor of the Credit Union Cherry Blossom 10-Mile Run. Proceeds from the run
benefit the Children’s Miracle Network (CMN), an international non-profit
organization dedicated to helping children by raising funds and awareness for
170 Children’s Hospitals throughout North America.
Credit unions are not-for-profit financial cooperatives owned by those who use
its services. Funds are federally insured, but unlike banks, there are no
stockholders at credit unions, so earnings are returned to member-owners in the
form of lower loan rates, higher savings rates, and low or no-fee products and
services. Credit unions are chartered to serve groups that share a common bond. Nearly
9,000 credit unions with assets exceeding $720 billion serve 88 million
Americans.
To find out if you’re eligible to join credit union:
• Ask
your employer – you may be eligible by virtue of your place of employment.
• Ask
your family members – you may be eligible to join as a relative.
• Look
in your community – many churches, clubs or professional societies offer
access to credit unions as a benefit of membership.
