The courses for the 2008 Credit Union Cherry
Blossom Ten Mile Run and the 5K Run Walk have just been unveiled. The
Ten Mile will start and finish on 15th St. adjacent to the Washington Monument grounds. The revised route will feature more cherry trees than ever before, with a 3-mile circuit under a canopy of legendary trees in East Potomac Park (Hains Point) in addition to the traditional sections past the trees along the Tidal Basin, Independence Ave., and the always popular Memorial Bridge crossing.
The 5K will start and finish just down the street from the Ten Mile.
The new Washington Monument grounds staging area will be readily accessible by Metro, with the start-finish line less than a quarter mile from the Smithsonian stop. Metro will open two hours early, at 5 a.m., on race day to transport the race participants, volunteers and spectators.
