Metro
Service
Metro will open
at 5 a.m. on race day (one hour earlier than
in the past). The race starts at 7:50 a.m., 10 minutes earlier than last
year. We hope the extra hour of service plus the proximity of the new
start/finish line to Metro will mean many more people will use Metro. You can
take the Metro (Blue and Orange lines) to the Smithsonian
stop,
which is .25 mile from the new staging area on the Washington Monument Grounds.
Other possible stops include L’Enfant Plaza (Blue, Orange, Green and Yellow
Lines), about .8 of a mile from the start; Metro Center (Red, Orange and Blue
lines), about .9 of a mile from the start; or Archives (Green and Yellow lines),
about .9 of a mile from the start. Due to the proximity of the Smithsonian stop,
there will be no shuttle bus service for Metro users this year.
Shuttle
Bus Service from the Headquarters Hotel
Shuttle bus service will operate from the Crystal
Gateway Marriott (our race headquarters), for guests registered at
the hotel (details on that shuttle will provided at check-in). Guests
staying at the Crystal City Marriott or the Doubletree Hotel on Army-Navy Dr.
may also use the Shuttle Buses departing from the Crystal Gateway Marriott.
Driving
The best place to park is on the north side of
Constitution Ave.NW or East of 7th St. There will be no parking in East or West
Potomac Parks.
Bicycle
There may be a limited number of bike racks on the
Washington Monument Grounds or on the Mall. Do not lock bicycles to any
of the race barricades or the locks will be cut or the bicycles will be stored
with the barricades until next spring.
