December 2007

Dear Confirmed Credit Union Cherry Blossom Race Entrant,

Congratulations, you are in! That was a whirlwind entry process. We had no idea the race would close so quickly. It had taken about 25 hours for the online process to fill for the last two years, and with our ceiling lifted by 2,000 runners, we thought it would take about the same amount of time this year. As you are probably aware, the on-line registration closed in four hours, and the mail-ins closed less than 48 hours later.

Although the most current race information appears on the event website, www.cherryblossom.org, we will be sending out monthly e-mails to confirmed race participants highlighting news and information about the event.

Registered Runners Can Still Sign-up to be On-line Fundraisers for the Children’s Miracle Network: The Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run and 5K Run Walk is about more than friendly competition and fitness for participants. The event raises funds for the Children's Miracle Network and local children's hospitals to treat children battling life-threatening illnesses. Help us reach our goal of raising $1 million in 2008 by becoming an on-line fundraiser today. Through your commitment and support, many of these kids will have a second chance to live happy and productive lives. Someday, they may even be running alongside you in the Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run. There is never a better time than the end of the year to learn how you can become an online fundraiser. For details, please click here: https://secure.e2rm.com/registrant/LoginRegister.aspx?EventID=14539&LangPref=en-CA

Charity Spots Still Available through Children’s Miracle Network: If you know someone who did not get into the race and would very much like to run, there are a small number of entries available for a donation to the Children’s Miracle Network. Click http://www.cherryblossom.org/entry/entrycmn.htm for details.

Number Transfer Policy to be Unveiled in January: For the first time, entrants who know they will not be able to participate on race day will have the opportunity to transfer their number to someone else until March 1st. We will provide details about the transfer process in our January e-mail.

Changes to Registration Information: If you need to make any changes in your registration information – for either on-line or mail-in applicants – please e-mail your changes to registrationhelp@marathonguide.com.

Sign Up for the Free Virtual Training Program: Our free Virtual Training Program by Coach Kirt West and running legend Bill Rodgers has helped thousands of runners prepare for the 10 mile over the years. You can sign up for either the Beginner or Advanced version of the 10-week program (which starts in late January) by clicking on this link: http://www.cherryblossom.org/virtualtraining/virtualtrainer.htm

We will be back in touch with more news and information after the holidays.

Season’s Greetings to Everyone!
The Credit Union Cherry Blossom Organizing Committee
