Getting
to the Expo; Expo Logistics
The Crystal Gateway Marriott
is easily accessible by Metro. The Crystal City Metro stop is one block away and
is served by the Yellow and Blue lines. Use of Metro is strongly encouraged.
There is limited on-street
parking in the vicinity of the hotel. Parking meters are enforced on Saturdays,
so bring quarters if you plan to use on-street parking. Competition for meters
even on Saturday is stiff. Self parking is available in the hotel parking lot.
Rates are $18.00 per day or
overnight. Think Metro.
Remember, entrants are
encouraged to follow the pick-up schedule outlined above in order to ease
crowding.
The Expo will be open to the
public during packet pick-up from 9:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. on Saturday only. In
addition to the Credit Union Cherry Blossom Merchandise store, the expo will
feature booths sponsored by running related companies and organizations,
including apparel manufacturers and retailers; nutritional product suppliers;
other major races; and running clubs.
Bib and chip pick-up, and
t-shirt pick-up will take place in separate locations in the Crystal Gateway
Marriott. Packets and bibs will be picked up in Salons J and K. Runners will
then proceed to the Arlington Ballroom to receive their t-shirts and visit the
expo.
Sunday
Packet Pickup
If you cannot get to the
Crystal Gateway Marriott on Saturday, you may pick up your bib number and chip
on Sunday, April 6, from 6:45 a.m. - 7:25 a.m. at the start/finish area on the
Washington Monument Grounds. Be prepared for long lines! We will not delay the
main 7:50 a.m. start in order to accommodate individuals showing up late to pick
up their bib numbers. No
changes to registration information and no personal chip registration can be
made on Sunday.
You and the
Chip
Full instructions regarding
use of the ChampionChip will be available at the packet pick-up tables where the
chips will be distributed. In brief, chips must be worn or you will not be
scored. If you know you won’t be running Sunday but have come on Saturday to
get your t-shirt and bib number anyway, please don’t take your chip on
Saturday at all. This will save you having to mail it back later or face a $30
lost chip fee. Runners may use their own chips if: 1) they supplied their
accurate chip numbers when they signed up; 2) they register their individual
chip number prior to race day at office@runwashington.com;
3) they bring their chips to Saturday packet pick-up. There
will be no personal chip registration available on Sunday morning.
Credit Union Cherry Blossom commemorative chips will be available for
purchase on Saturday.
Once the race is over, race volunteers will help you remove your
chip. Runners who do not turn in their chips will be assessed a $30 lost chip
fee. If you arrive home with the rental chip, please return it by mail to
Capital Running Company, CUCB Chips, 13710 Ashby Rd., Rockville, MD 20853.
Upgrade
Shirts
Runners who pre-ordered the
upgrade Saucony Hydrator performance shirts can pick them up at the Expo on
Saturday or at the race site on Sunday. Upgrade orders are indicated on the
mailing label of this confirmation. Remember upgrade shirts replace the standard
participant shirt.
Clinics
Besides our traditional
clinic with four-time winner Bill Rodgers, we are offering a greatly expanded
array of clinic speakers at the expo, including elite athletes, trainers, sports
medicine specialists and nutritionists. Plus John Sissala, who measured and
certified the new Cherry Blossom course, will be on hand twice during the day to
give his overview of the new course. Click Here for the
full schedule of clinic speakers.
Unregistered
Runners
Race bib numbers and chips
are non-transferable, so please do not give your bib number or chip to anyone
else. If you are found to have given your bib number or chip to another runner,
you and that runner may be denied entry into future Credit Union Cherry Blossom
Ten Mile Run events at the discretion of the Race Committee. Anybody found
running without a bib number will be removed from the course. Runners without
chips will not be scored.
No-Shows
We have already factored in a
certain percentage of no-shows. If you let someone else run with your bib number
and chip, you will destroy our finisher calculation which may cause us to be in
violation of our National Park Service permit and be banned from using the
course in the future. Therefore, if you are not going to run, do not give your
bib number and chip to another runner. Don’t ruin the race for others.
Picking
Up Someone Else's Packet
Need to pick up someone else's packet for them?
Not a problem. Just bring a note from that runner, their confirmation brochure
and some sort of identification for yourself (such as a driver's license). If
you don't have their confirmation brochure, you will be able to pick up the
packet, but it will be much faster with their brochure. You will absolutely need
the note and your own ID, however.
Merchandise
Sales
We will be offering an array of "Official
Credit Union Cherry Blossom" items for sale at the Expo including
apparel, patches and other commemorative items. Pick up a race memento for
yourself or for a gift. In addition items from previous years are at closeout
prices.
