Number Transfer Procedures

The Number Transfer Process Opens on February 1, 2016 and Closes at 11:59 PM on February 29, 2016.

The organizing committee of the Credit Union Cherry Blossom is allowing accepted runners who cannot participate in the race to transfer their registration to runners who did not get accepted into the event. The transfer period opens on February 1, 2016, and closes at 11:59 P.M. on February 29, 2016. Please note that all transfers must be completed by that time. Transfers that are "in process" when the deadline is reached cannot be guaranteed. No transfers will be allowed after the close of the transfer period, and there are no refunds or deferrals. We need to close the transfer process on February 29 in order to give us time to get the bib numbers assigned and make corrections to the database.

Overview of the Transfer Process

Number transfers are initiated by registered runners seeking to transfer their numbers. Upon clicking the link below, the individual transferring a number will be taken to a "Transfer Number" form which he or she will complete and submit. Once this form is submitted, the sender will be emailed an electronic transfer code within a few minutes. This code should be sent to the recipient of the transferred number. The recipient must use the code and enter the race within 72 hours of the time when the code was issued to the sender. The code becomes void after 72 hours.

The transferee (the person accepting the transferred registration) will pay the $15.00 transfer fee to the Credit Union Cherry Blossom when he or she completes an entirely new application for entry into the race. The registration of the sender will be dropped from the race. If the person transferring the entry wishes to recoup what he or she paid to enter the race originally, he or she is responsible for collecting the entry fees directly from the transfer recipient. The transferor (person making the transfer) agrees not to charge more than the original entry fee (plus any fees for ancillary items ordered, such as upgrade shirt, medal, etc.) for the transfer.

Transfer Rules

Here are some additional rules governing the transfer process.

  1. Who Can Transfer: Transfers from entrants in the 10 mile must go to prospective entrants in the 10 mile, and transfers from 5K Run-Walk entrants must go to prospective 5K Run-Walk entrants. However, 10 mile entrants will have an opportunity to change from the 10 mile to the 5K Run-Walk until mid-March.

  2. Any Extra Items Ordered by the Original Registrant Transfer to the Individual Receiving the Bib Number.  If the original registrant ordered any of the ancillary items offered at the time of registration – a New Balance Lightning Dry performance upgrade, a Finisher’s Medal, an “Enhanced Finisher’s Medal,” packet mail-out, or a carbon offset – these items will be transferred to the recipient of the bib number. The prices of these items should be reflected in the price of the bib transfer. The prices of these items are as follows:

    New Balance Lightning Dry performance upgrade shirt: $20.00
    Finisher’s Medal: $13.00
    Enhanced Finisher’s Medal with place and time engraved:  $20.00
    Delivery of race packet to home:  $50.00
    Carbon offset:    $3.75

    Note about the New Balance Lightning Dry performance upgrades: The transferee will have an opportunity to select the sex and size of the upgrade that he or she receives in a transfer. In addition, there will be an opportunity for the recipients of performance upgrades to exchange them for the appropriate size at the T-shirt exchange at the Health and Fitness Expo at the National Building Museum on Friday and Saturday. While we cannot guarantee all sizes will be available, it is highly likely you will be able to switch to your size.

  3. Note about Enhanced Finisher's Medals: If you receive a transfer with an enhanced finisher's medal with time and place engraved, you must send an email notifying us of both the name of the person who transferred you the enhanced medal and your name. Send the email to If you do not do this, you may not receive your enhanced medal.

  4. Purchasing Additional Items. If the original registrant did not order any additional items, the recipient of the bib number may go to to order upgrade t-shirts, medals, carbon offsets, or packet delivery. All such orders must be placed by February 29, 2016.

  5. There will be a $15.00 (including service fee) transfer fee which will be paid by the individual accepting the transferred registration. Reimbursement of the entry fee to the original registrant must be handled privately by the two parties involved in the transaction.

  6. The Credit Union Cherry Blossom does not permit the charging of fees over the standard entry fees for each event for a transferred registration. Posts offering or seeking numbers at fees in excess of the standard entry fee are subject to removal from the message board.
