Getting Ready to Run - 2017

The Credit Union Cherry Blossom is offering two training programs and an educational seminar series to get everyone ready to run a satisfying 10 miles on April 2, 2017 – whether your goal is breaking one hour or two hours.

Training Programs

Potomac River Running In-Person On-Site Training Program

Whether your goal is to finish the race, or to finish faster than you ever have before, prepare to do your best with a coach's guidance and fellow runners to help keep you motivated.  AND, you'll get a great long-sleeve Under Armour clothing item along the way!

The program is brought to you in partnership with New Balance and the =PR= Training Programs. Training sites include Arlington/DC (time split in Georgetown at 33rd and the waterfront/K Street under Whitehurst Freeway and in Rosslyn), and Reston.

The program will kick off on January 21, 2017. It includes weekly group weekend morning runs and optional weekday group runs and/or workouts.  You will receive a 10-week schedule based on your background/race goal, which includes guidance on what to do on days you are not meeting with the group.  On-site coaches will answer your questions and keep you excited and motivated as they guide you toward your race goal.

Virtual Training Program Presented by Under Armour

You can register for the FREE Virtual Training Program, presented by Under Armour, either by signing up for it when you enter the lottery, or by returning here after the entry lottery is complete and signing up then. We hope that you will train with us this year in one of our Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced programs.


NOTE: If you sign up for a Virtual Training Program when you sign up for the race, you do not need to sign up again here. Registrations will close on January 31, 2017, and the program begins on January 23, 2017.

MedStar Sports Medicine Educational Seminar

Be fully informed before on race day with four exclusive educational seminars on the following topics: Strength and Training, Race Nutrition, Race Strategies, and Recovery. Medical experts from MedStar Sports Medicine will answer all your questions and help to ensure you are at your healthiest for the big race! Dates and locations for each of these seminars will be posted here when they become available.
