Getting Ready to Run - 2017
The Credit Union Cherry Blossom is offering two training programs and an educational seminar series to get everyone ready to run a satisfying 10 miles on April 2, 2017 – whether your goal is breaking one hour or two hours.
Whether your goal is to finish the race, or to finish faster than you ever have before, prepare to do your best with a coach’s guidance and fellow runners to help keep you motivated. The =PR= Training Programs' Credit Union Cherry Blossom Training Program is a great option for DC-area runners. The program returns for its eighth year, and is brought to you in partnership with =PR= Training and Under Armout. It is also appropriate for those prepping for the spring season in general, including your friends or family who may not be racing with you but would like to train with you! 2017 training sites include Washington, DC/Arlington (meeting in Georgetown or Rosslyn depending on the week) and Reston, VA.
The program kicks off the weekend of January 21-22 and includes informal weekly group weekend runs and optional weekday group runs and/or workouts. You will receive a 10-week schedule based on your background/race goal which includes guidance on what to do on days you are not meeting with the group. On-site coaches will answer your questions and keep you excited and motivated as they guide you toward your race goal.
The Standard Program cost is $129 if you are already entered in the race ($159 if you need a race entry - so tell your friends who didn't get into the race that enrolling the this program will get them an entry!), an awesome long sleeve technical shirt, half zip or jacket, and other giveaways and social activities. You also receive the 10-week training plan, weekly group runs, access to group track workouts, special sales and promotions, and more. All that GREAT GEAR effectively offsets the program cost, so it's like you get to train for free! (Note that the program is 10 weeks because we EXPECT that there may be some weather-related cancellations, and have built in some extra prep time just in case!)

Developed by Coach Kirt West, our Virtual Training program offers three levels -- beginning, intermediate, and advanced. The 10-week program, which has helped thousands of runners prepare for the 10 mile over the years, starts on Monday, January 23. Participants in the Virtual Training program will receive a daily email with a suggested workout for that day plus a weekly overview. If you did not sign up for this program when you registered, you can still sign up by visiting http://www.cherryblossom.org/theraces/vt_signup.php. Registration closes on February 1, 2017, however runners already enrolled will be able to switch from one level to another.
