Why You Should Be A Volunteer
We will need over 1400 volunteers (some on Friday
and Saturday, lots more on Sunday) to conduct the 2011 event. No experience necessary, just a
willingness to help out.
We appreciate our volunteers. Not only will you help put on the finest 10 mile race in the nation, you'll be getting something extra for your efforts...
- 2011 Credit Union Cherry Blossom 10 Mile Longsleeve Volunteer T-Shirt
- Opportunity to attend Expo and Clinic
- Transferable, Guaranteed Entry (at prevailing entry fee) to
2012 race.
So, if you don't get in before the race fills this year, or if you just aren't able to run this year, sign up to volunteer and guarantee your entry for next year. You may also have a spouse or
friend(s) who might be able to volunteer. (The 2012 race entry guarantee for volunteers is
transferable, so your friend or spouse could volunteer, and you can be guaranteed entry next year!)
Additional Information for Volunteers
Here are a few additional things you should know before you sign up to volunteer:
- Don't volunteer if you aren't sure you will be able to be there. No-shows really cause great difficulties and will be barred from volunteering in future years.
- Confirmed runners, volunteer for Saturday!
That way you can run the race on Sunday and still get a guaranteed entry for
next year's race!
- Volunteers must be at least 14 years old. Parents should not expect that children will be assigned to the same location.
- You must be able to report on time and remain on the job for the duration. Volunteers who leave early without permission will not receive a guaranteed entry form.
- Check the
volunteer website frequently. Volunteer jobs will open and close
without warning.
- Dress comfortably and in
layers. Race morning starts early and can be cold. Wear
comfortable shoes and be prepared to walk in the grass and dirt.
- Leave all valuables (purses,
backpacks etc) at home. We do not have the space or security to
watch them during race weekend.
- Plan to take metro all
weekend long.
- Be prepared to HAVE FUN!!
The Credit Union Cherry Blossom is approved for
SSL hours for high school students in Montgomery County.
