Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run and 5K Run-Walk Capitol Hill Competition
Welcome to the special Congressional Registration website for the Credit Union Cherry Blossom 10 Mile Run and 5K Run-Walk. The Credit Union Cherry Blossom will be held in-person on April 3, 2022! Capitol Hill Registration is now OPEN.
We will hold our traditional Capitol Hill Team and Individual Competition as part of our IN-PERSON 10 Mile Run and 5K Run-Walk on April 3, 2022. Guaranteed entries (at the prevailing entry fees) to the event will be available for Members of Congress and Capitol Hill staffers, including interns. While hoping to be able to host a “normal” race on April 3, the race organizers will implement any Covid-19 mitigation policies of their choosing at any time as mandated by Washington, DC Municipal Officials, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the event’s Medical Director in order to ensure a safe event for all participants, volunteers and spectators. These may include proof of required vaccination and booster, negative testing within an announced number of hours prior to the race day, and implementation of social distancing or other policies designed to ensure a safe race. Entry fees are non refundable.
Congressional Registration for the 2022 In-Person Race will be open through 11:59 P.M. on February 28, 2022.
If you wish to run the Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run or the 5K Run-Walk, you must register. Before proceeding, please read the following brief description of the steps necessary to enter and reconfirm your entry. If you wish to enter as part of a team, check with your team captain to ensure that they have set up your team before you enter as an individual.
E-mail Address — You will be asked for your e-mail address. You may access the registration form by using your Capitol Hill email address, although this is not required. If you prefer to use your private, personal email address, please send an email to email@example.com and we will send you a code which you can use to enter the Capitol Hill Competition. Whatever email you use for registration is the email that will be used for confirmation of your entry.
Register — You will then enter all the normal race registration data (name, address, etc.)
Payment — The entry fee must be paid by credit card at the time of registration.
Fees are as follows:
- $54 for an individual entry into the 10-mile run, plus a service fee
- $44 for the 5K Run-Walk (no team competition in the 5K), plus a service fee
Note: If you order any additional items, such as a t-shirt upgrade, medal, or carbon offset, there will be an added service fee for these additional items.
Confirmation — Upon completing entry of your registration information, you will receive an entry confirmation, which you should print and save.
Read the Race Instructions — After you’ve completed your entry, we encourage you to go to the main Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run and 5K Run-Walk website to read additional information about the race. This includes details important to all entrants in the race, including course maps, general information, and details on the Credit Union Cherry Blossom Health & Fitness Expo presented by Wegmans. You will also receive a confirmation sheet with runner instructions.
If you will be running on a team in the 10 Mile Run (there is no team competition in the 5K Run-Walk), the registration process consists of two steps.
The Team Captain (who does not have to be running the race and who may set up more than one team) must create the team first. This can be done by clicking on the link below anytime through 11:59 P.M. on August 15. All team captains will need to set up new User IDs and passwords this year. (Those from last year are no longer operative.)
The Team Captain will pay a one-time $20 team registration fee (plus service charge) when setting up the team and gives the team a name (there are special awards for the most creative team name). This team fee is only paid once by the Team Captain; individual team members pay only the $54 individual registration fee and pay no additional fee to join the team (see below for details about Joining a Team).
If the captain will be running on the team, he or she will have the opportunity to register as an individual affiliated with that team at the time the team is created.
Once the team is set up, the Team Captain should let all of the prospective team members know the name of the team.
From now through February 28, prospective team members register as individuals by using the link below:
During the registration process, prospective team registrants will have an opportunity to affiliate with any team that has been set up in advance. Each registrant will be responsible for the $54 individual registration entry. (The $20 team fee is paid only once by the team captain when creating the team.)
If your office is planning to enter a team, we strongly encourage your team captain to set up the team before individuals sign up. If individuals register before the team they want to join is created, they will need to contact the team captain, who will be able to place them on the team. This is possible, but more cumbersome than having the teams created first.
About the Ten Mile Run
The 10 mile is held on a flat, fast course with five water and aid stations on the course. Entrants must complete the 10 mile in under 2:20:00 net time. The 10 mile will start at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 3, 2022. Congressional registration will take place through 11:59 p.m. on February 28, 2022.
The 5K Run-Walk is designed for individuals who don’t wish to attempt 10 miles, or for walkers and relaxed-pace runners who feel they would take longer than 2 hours and 20 minutes to complete 10 miles. All 5K Run-Walk entrants receive the same amenities as the 10 milers, including the official race t-shirt, their overall times and places in the event, and post-race food and drink. The time limit for the 5K is 65 minutes, or 21 minutes per mile for 3.1 miles.
The 5K Run-Walk is limited to individuals who have pre-registered. Congressional registration will take place between February 1 and February 28, 2022.
The 5K Run-Walk will begin at 9:00 A.M. on Sunday, April 3, 2022.
