Credit Union Cherry Blossom 10 Mile & 5K Capitol Hill Competition
Team Registration
Team competition in the 10 Mile will be held in three categories: House teams, Senate teams and Capitol Hill Agency teams. Click Here for complete team rules. Any Team Captain who creates a team will be charged a $20 Team Fee (plus a service fee). Individuals who join the team after it is created are not charged a fee to join the team; they pay only their individual registration fee.
This year we are using a new registration provider, Race Roster. When you click the link at the bottom of these instructions to start the registration process, you will be asked to create a Race Roster account, if you do not already have one. This only takes a few seconds and is very easy – just follow the prompts.
Once you create your Race Roster account, you will be ready to begin the 2-step process to register a team (and yourself if you are running on the team) for the race.
STEP 1 – Submit Interest Form
To ensure that only participants eligible for the Capitol Hill Competition register for the race, we ask that you first fill out a Submit Interest Form by clicking the Submit Interest Form button that appears below these instructions. Enter the information requested and click Submit Order.
- E-mail Address — You will be asked for your e-mail address. To facilitate the process of validating that you are an eligible Capitol Hill Competition participant, we ask that you use your Capitol Hill email address, although this is not required. Whatever email you use on the registration is the email that will be used for confirmation of your entry.
Once you click Submit Order, you will receive 2 emails: one from Race Roster, which is simply a receipt that you have submitted the form, and the second from the Credit Union Cherry Blossom with the Subject line: Capitol Hill Competition – Instructions on how to register. That email will contain two important pieces of information:
- A link to access the Race Registration Form
- A validation code to put into the Access Code box on the Race Registration portal to unlock the Race Registration form.
STEP 2 – Race Registration Form
Click the link in the email from Credit Union Cherry Blossom, and then on the resultant page click on the I HAVE AN ACCESS CODE button. On a laptop or computer this is in the menu to the right side of your screen (see image below); on a phone it is the second option under REGISTER at the top of your screen.

Paste your validation code into the box, then click the Validate button (see image below). You do not need to select a Sub-event on this screen; just paste your code into the Validate box and click Validate.

- Once you have pasted in your Validation Code and clicked Validate, a new screen will appear.
- Click on the Sub-event Capitol Hill Competition Registration and you will see 5 options (see screenshot below). The first two options are for Team Captains who want to create a Team:
- If all you want to do is create a Team, but you do NOT plan to be on that team or to run in the race, click the first option – Capitol Hill Competition – Create Team ONLY.
- If you want to create a Team AND run the 10 Mile as part of that team, click the second option – Capitol Hill Competition – Create Team & Register for 10 Mile. (Note that the Team Fee of $20 is added to the 10 Mile Race Registration Fee of $58.00 to make the total for this option $78.00.)
- IMPORTANT NOTE: DOUBLE BLOSSOM RUNNERS CANNOT CREATE TEAMS. If you want to register for the Double Blossom AND create a Team, select the first option – Capitol Hill Competition – Create Team ONLY – and follow the instructions below to Create the Team. Once you have created the team, register yourself for the Double Blossom by following the Registration Instructions for Individuals, and join the Team through your dashboard (https://raceroster.com/dashboard/participants/72646). Alternatively, have someone else create the team, then follow the Registration Instructions for Individuals to register for the Double Blossom and join the Team through your dashboard (https://raceroster.com/dashboard/participants/72646).

Team Captains Who DO NOT Plan to Run on the Team (First Option)
If you DO NOT plan to run any of the races but just want to create a team (or Team Captains who want to create multiple Teams) do the following:
- Click the 1st option – Capitol Hill Competition – Create Team ONLY.
- Scroll down and fill out the team registration form. In the Team fields, you will enter:
- Team Name: Enter your team name (there are special awards for the most creative team name).
- Division for the Team: House, Senate or Capitol Hill Agency
- Employing Office: For House teams this is the House Member Office or House Committee, for Senate Teams this is the Senate Member Office or Senate Committee, and for Agencies this is the Capitol Hill Agency, i.e. Capitol Police, Congressional Budget Office, Sodexo, AOC, Military Liaison, Library of Congress, etc.
You will be charged the Team Fee of $20 (plus service fee).
Once the team is created, let your team members know the team name so they can select it when they are registering.
Team Captains Who Plan to Run on the Team (Second Option)
If you plan to run on the team you want to create, do the following:
- Click the 2nd option – Capitol Hill Competition – Create Team & Register for the 10 Mile.
- Scroll down and fill out your own registration form.
Partway through your registration form you will find a section titled “Teams.” Click on the + sign next to the “Create a New Team” option. The Team Questions will appear:
- Team Name: Enter your team name (there are special awards for the most creative team name).
- Division for the Team: House, Senate or Capitol Hill Agency
- Employing Office: For House teams this is the House Member Office or House Committee, for Senate Teams this is the Senate Member Office or Senate Committee, and for Agencies this is the Capitol Hill Agency, i.e. Capitol Police, Congressional Budget Office, Sodexo, AOC, Military Liaison, Library of Congress, etc.
- Job Title: Enter the title of your position in the Office/Committee/Agency
A $20 Team Fee (plus a processing fee) will be added to your registration fee (this is the only team fee charged; other team members will not be charged a team fee when they join your team). Make sure to tell your team members the name of the team so that they can select it when they fill out their own individual registrations.
Team Captains Who Want to Create Multiple Teams
Team Captains are allowed to create more than one team.
- If you created one team when you registered and are running on that team, you can create more teams by following the instructions under Team Captains Who Do Not Plan to Run on the Team above for each team you want to create. (This means you have to fill out a Submit Interest form for every additional team you want to create.)
- If you don’t plan to run on any Team you create, follow the instructions under Team Captains Who Do Not Plan to Run on the Team above for all teams you want to create. (Again, this means you have to fill out a Submit Interest form for every additional team you want to create.)
Important Notes:
- Captains cannot add members to teams through their dashboards. Runners must join the team either when they register, or they can join from their individual Race Roster dashboard if they have already registered by logging into their Race Roster account (https://raceroster.com/dashboard/participants/72646).
- Captains can remove members from teams.
- Double Blossom runners cannot create teams. They also cannot join a team during the registration process. They can however, join an already created team from their Race Roster dashboards after they have registered. To do that, login to your dashboard (https://raceroster.com/dashboard/participants/72646) and if you scroll down you will see that you actually have 3 different registrations – a Double Blossom Registration, a 10 Mile Registration and a 5K Registration. Scroll down to your 10 Mile Registration.

- In the middle of the registration there will be a box labeled Team and you will see a button in it that says “Join Team.” (see screenshot above). Click on that button and you will be able to pick your team from a dropdown.
