Switch Races
Switch from 10 Mile to 5K
We understand that sometimes injury or time pressures can sideline your training for a 10 Mile race. If your training doesn’t go as planned, you will be able to change from the 10 Mile race to the 5K race, as long as the entry limit of 8,000 registrants for the 5K has not been reached. (Note: last year the 5K field limit was reached in late January, so be sure to act promptly once you decide you want to make the switch.)
After the 10 Mile Lottery is over, if you have been accepted into the 10 Mile but want to switch to the 5K, we will post a form here for you to use to change your registration.
If we have not reached the 8,000 runner entry limit for the 5K and you fill out the form before 5K registration closes, there will be no fee for the change, but there are no refunds for the difference between the entry fee for the 10 Mile and the entry fee for the 5K.. Your registration information and name will be pre-printed on your 5K bib number, which you can pick up at the Expo on Friday, April 4 from 2:00 p.m. – 7:45 p.m., or at the 5K staging area in Freedom Plaza on Saturday , April 5 from 7:00 a.m. – 8:45 a.m. You will receive a 10 Mile/5K standard cotton t-shirt (unless when you registered for the 10 Mile you opted to upgrade to a 10 Mile ASICS performance shirt, in which case you will instead receive a 5K ASICS performance shirt), and if you purchased a 10 Mile medal, you will get a 5K medal when you finish the race.
You must wear a 5K bib to be allowed to run in the 5K. Anyone who runs the 5K race with a 10 Mile bib, or the 10 Mile race with a 5K bib, will be disqualified from both races.
