Entry Transfers
Entry Transfer Process
VERY IMPORTANT: Don’t Give Your Bib to Anyone Without Going Through the Transfer Process or you and they may be banned from the race for up to 5 years.
ALSO VERY IMPORTANT: NO ONE SHOULD ASK YOU FOR MONEY IF THEY TRANSFER THEIR ENTRY TO YOU. Once someone initiates a transfer through Race Roster, you will get an email from Race Roster asking you to complete your registration, and they will get a refund. All valid transfer emails will come from the email address therunner@raceroster.com. Any other email request is a scam, and anyone who asks you for money to transfer their registration to you is a scam.
The Entry Transfer Process for the 10 Mile, Double Blossom and 5K is now Open. It closes at 11:59 PM on February 28, 2026 (although any transfer that is initiated by February 28 has until 5:00 p.m. (EST) on March 2 to be completed).
How It Works
The Credit Union Cherry Blossom allows accepted runners who cannot participate in either the 10 Mile, 5K or Double Blossom to transfer their entry (and get a refund of all registration fees and products purchased except donations and service fees) to runners who would like to get an entry into the same event. No transfers will be allowed after the close of the transfer period, and there are no refunds other than through this Transfer Process.
Some Notes:
-
- Who Can Transfer: Transfers from entrants in the 10 Mile must go to prospective entrants in the 10 Mile, transfers from 5K entrants must go to prospective 5K entrants, and transfers from Double Blossom entrants (both races) must go to prospective Double Blossom entrants.
- A Special Note About Double Blossom Transfers: Double Blossom entries must be conveyed as entries into both races; registrants may not transfer the 10 Mile and 5K race entries individually. Of course, someone receiving a Double Blossom entry may choose to participate in only one of the two races, but they must still pay the Double Blossom entry fee regardless of which races they choose to run.
- Fee: For each transfer, there is a $20 transfer fee, which the person receiving an entry or getting in off the wait list will pay at the time of their registration, along with their registration fee.
There are two types of transfers:
-
- Transfers from a Registrant to a Friend or Family Member (Someone the Registrant Knows)
- Transfers from a Registrant to Someone on the Waitlist (Note: There is no Waitlist for the 5K; 5K registrants can only transfer their entry to someone they know).
The procedures for both types of transfers are detailed below:
Transfers from a Registrant to a Friend or Family Member (Someone the Registrant Knows)
I am a 10 Mile, Double Blossom or 5K registrant and I want to transfer my entry to someone I know:
- Go here and select “Transfer to a new participant”.
- Enter the email address of the person you would like to transfer your registration to. The person to whom you transfer must register for the same event (10 Mile, Double Blossom or 5K) as you were originally registered for.
- Instructions on accepting the transfer will then be sent to this email address.
- The new participant will then follow the instructions sent to their email.
- Once the new participant has finished their registration, you will be refunded your original payment (less any donations made and service fees paid).
I know someone willing to transfer their 10 Mile, 5K, or Double Blossom entry to me:
- Give the registrant your email address and ask them to initiate the transfer process as described above.
- An email will be sent to you from our online registration company Race Roster letting you know the transfer has been initiated and containing a Complete Transfer link. All valid transfer emails will come from the email address “therunner@raceroster.com”. Do not accept a transfer from any other email address.
- Click the Complete Transfer link in that email, and follow the instructions for the Registration form.
- Fill out the Registration form. If you wish, you will be able to order an upgrade t-shirt, medal, photo package and other add-ons during the registration process.
- You will be charged a $20 transfer fee, in addition to paying for your registration and any ancillary items (upgrade shirts, medals, etc.) you order.
Transfers from a Registrant to Someone on the Wait List
I am a 10 Mile or Double Blosssom registrant and want to transfer my entry to someone on the Waitlist:
Send an email to info@cherryblossom.org explaining that you wish to give your registration to someone on the Waitlist. As long as there is someone on the Waitlist who is looking for an entry for the event you are registered for, you will be refunded your entire entry fee and any other payments made (other than donations and service fees). After February 28, no refunds will be issued as part of the waitlist process.
Note: There is no Waitlist for the 5K. 5K registrants who wish to transfer their entry can only do so to someone they know.
No Deferrals or Refunds
The policy of the race is that entry fees are non-refundable and there are no deferrals. There are only two exceptions to the no refunds rule:
1. You purchase the official Race Protection Policy at the time of registration, and qualify based on the terms of the policy – if so, see below.
2. You make a transfer through the official Transfer process described above.
Race Protection
All registrants are given the opportunity to purchase race protection to protect your entry fee if you find you are not able to run due to a qualifying event. If you purchased Race Protection when you registered for the race and your situation is one of the qualifying events, and you decide you do not want to transfer your registration to a friend/family member or someone on the waitlist, you can submit a claim for a refund (the protection does not cover EVERY reason you can’t make the race). Click Here for information on Race Protection.
