T-Shirt Art Design Contest

 

One of the unique aspects of the Credit Union Cherry Blossom is that our iconic t-shirt is designed by one of you! Each year, we receive inspiring submissions from our community from which we select the winning design. One of the incredible experiences for our artist is to see their design on more than 30,000 runners and volunteers during race weekend. If you would like to be considered for this honor, or if you have a friend or family member who might be interested in submitting a design, please keep reading, or pass this invitation along to any artists in your life.

The Winning Artist Will:

  • Create an original design to overall represent the Cherry Blossom Races in 2027 (10 Mile & 5K) to appear on the official race T-shirt.
  • Create variations suitable for posters, merchandise, signs, social media and other materials.
  • Be encouraged to attend the Fall/Winter Race Kick-off Party to help launch the T-Shirt Design to the public.
  • Receive $1,500 for the winning design.
  • Receive two paid entries to any race distance.
  • Receive up to $500 in travel to/from Washington, D.C. for race weekend.
  • Receive two nights lodging on race weekend.
  • Receive merchandise from the clothing sponsor upon availability.
  • Attend the Race Committee Dinner during race weekend.
  • Participate at the T-Shirt Contest Booth during the Credit Union Cherry Blossom Health and Fitness Expo during race weekend.
  • Sign a contract governing the terms of use for your artwork.

 

Submission Requirements

    • An ORIGINAL DESIGN, size: 8 in. x 8 in., 3000 px x 3000 px 
    • Focus on original thinking and creative exploration, encouraging designs that reflect your own ideas and ingenuity. AI usage is discouraged whether as the inspiration (brainstorming) for designs or the execution of designs.

Submissions must include the following EXACT wording in the art, underneath or above it:

    • Credit Union Cherry Blossom 10 Mile & 5K
    • 2027
    • Washington, D.C.

Additional Notes: 

    • We accept different concepts – you may include cherry blossoms, memorials, runners, etc., but you are free to use your artistic license to incorporate images of springtime or any other artistic theme.
    • If you include runners in your artwork, we encourage that your design shows the diversity in our running community.
    • Diversify your color scheme for your design – while pink is most associated with cherry blossoms, we encourage the use of other colors too.
    • You may submit more than ONE design. Each design needs to incorporate all the requirements above.  Each design must be submitted separately by filling out a separate submission intake form for each entry. Should you be the winner, please note that we will be requesting the source file for your design to incorporate into our social media and other branding needed for the race.

    Kids Run T-Shirt Design Contest

    We will be holding a t-shirt design contest for our 2027 Kids Run. Budding young artists aged 10 and under should check back here for all the details in January 2027.
